For one night, the eve of the ESCRS congress, the stadium of the Spanish and European Champions Barcelona FC was home to the IOL world champions Rayner and the Rayner distributor companies.
Yes, it was a night to remember – a “match of two halves”. The first-half: the presentations and a guided museum tour, and the second-half: a buffet of typical Spanish tapas.
Webber kicked-off. Some smart footwork from the English captain gifted an early ball to the young star Santos who got ball after ball in the back of the net through his new integrated marketing campaign – a range of materials in a variety of media, from brochures to a brand new website. ... The crowd went wild hearing of Patient Education Programmes for Premium IOLs, Sulcoflex® marketing, dispensers, posters and a Patient Education Video. Then Grills, once a rugby union man, scored goal after goal. What surprised many of the fans was his skill with the round ball, but fair dinkum Toric IOLs he maintained were the winner for him in Australia – must be that familiarity with the oval ball that makes Dick so successful in toric sales!
“They thought it was all over...”
At half time the participants had their photos taken on the hallowed turf of Nou Camp. As the Rayner logo emblazoned on the Barça scoreboard, one fan wiped a tear from his eye, “It is a pleasure and an honour to be here in such exciting times for Rayner”, said Alexandre Pontes captain of Adapt FC, who had travelled all the way from the great footballing nation of Brazil.
“Rayner has a great history and we know we can count on a fine season ahead of us. We are proud of being able to assemble such a great team. We firmly believe that we have the right players in every market and tonight is a very special night for the Rayner Family”, said coach Munro as he raised the Cup to the flag-waving crowd.
The Team
The Rayner team line included coach Donnie Munro, skipper Adrian Webber, Centre Forward Rodrigo Guarana Santos, and guest defender Richard Grills, from Designs for Vision, Australia. Thankfully, the game proved injury-free but if substitutions had been necessary there was little worry – the Rayner bench was full of world-class players eager to step in.
Final Score
Rayner 60 (years of successful IOLs)!
