Rayner Intraocular Lenses Limited, the pioneering manufacturer and designer of intraocular lenses, today announces the launch of the company’s new injector, RaySert ®PLUS.

RaySert® PLUS is designed for safe and effective implantations through a 2.2mm wound assisted mini incision, reducing the level of surgical induced astigmatism. Approved for the delivery of theC-flex ®Aspheric and Superflex ®Aspheric range of Rayner IOLs , it is supplied in a system pack format with the IOL.

The first implant was safely completed by Mr Allon Barsam at the Luton and Dunstable University Hospital, UCL Partners in the UK on the 14th March 2014: "Much like the earlier 2.7mm Rayner injectors and the later 2.4mm Raysert injectors the new 2.2mm RaySert PLUS has a very easy and simple loading mechanism. The one handed injector frees up the nondominant hand for counter fixation to facilitate a controlled and gentle wound assisted deliver of the lens into the capsular bag,” said Mr Allon Barsam MB BS MA FRCOphth, Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon Specialist in Cornea, Cataract and Laser Eye Surgery.

Mr Barsam applauded Rayner’s move to smaller incisions cataract surgery: “For those familiar with Rayner's 2.7mm and 2.4mm injectors no extra adaptation of surgical technique is required. This represents an exciting new development from Rayner in the move to smaller incisions during cataract surgery," added Mr Barsam.

The single system pack carton contains both the IOL and the mini incision Injector, which ensures that you always use a certified injector with the IOL. Additionally, it improves stock control and auditing management.
