Marketing Announcement

Exciting and positive changes are taking place within Rayner, at present.

The Sales and Marketing functions have been separated under the leadership of two, new directors and we would like to take this opportunity to update you on the structure of the new Marketing Team.

Please feel free to contact anyone on the Team should you need product or marketing advice, or help with any Rayner product.


Lionel Jouet Marketing Director

Lionel comes to Rayner with over 15 years international ophthalmological marketing experience. He has a proven track record of leading impressive business growth, taking previous companies from challenger to market-leading position.

Lionel’s time as an International Product Manager saw him successfully partner with 80 Distributors, so we eagerly anticipate the skills and knowledge he will bring to the team.

Lionel’s number one passion is the customer, however his passion for data is not far behind!

Sarah Hall Marketing Manager

Sarah joined Rayner in June 2011 as Product Manager for the lens portfolio, after 5 years in marketing at Biocompatibles UK, where she was Product Manager for a dermatology diagnostic device.

In September 2012, Sarah became Marketing Manager at Rayner.

Sarah has three children and spends her time outside Rayner running, cycling and learning to swim better!

Claire Scully Marketing Communications Executive

Claire’s marketing experience is mainly in the dental industry, however she has a keen interest in all things medical, and is very excited to put her marketing skills to use in the world of ophthalmology. 

Claire has pursued a career in Marketing because of her interest in Consumer Behaviour, and in her spare time she enjoys spending time with her friends, reading, and keeping in touch with her family and friends in Australia.

Warwick Strand Product Manager

Warwick Strand joined Rayner at the start of the year coming from a Leading Ophthalmic Instrument Manufacturer. He has spent over 10 years in ophthalmology providing technical direction in engineering, project management and marketing. Warwick has been personally responsible for bringing more than 100 commercially available hand-held surgical instruments to market from inception through to design. 

He has a Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering, is an active sportsman training towards his black belt in Karate and currently in the process of obtaining his private pilots licence.

Andy Birch Product Manager

Andy has over ten years’ experience in pharmaceutical sales and marketing, with a successful track record in Product Management, most recently specialising in respiratory care. He enjoys a hands on, customer focused approach, creating innovative strategies built on a strong understanding of market needs. 

Andy is extremely pleased to join Rayner during an exciting period of growth, and looks forward to building strong, valuable relationships with all partners and customers who have such an important role to play in the future success of Rayner IOLs.

He is married to Annie, and has an 18 month old son Ethan. Andy is a keen squash player and cyclist, and tries to see as much live music as possible.

Carol Holden Marketing Assistant

Carol has been a part of Rayner for many years now and during her time has seen many changes within the company – and is very excited by the changes currently taking place!

Her role is full of variety but in a nutshell, Carol does a wonderful job providing full support to the Marketing Department.

In her spare time, when she gets some, she’s interested in antiques and reading books on social history.

Clare Burke Training and Communications Manager

Clare rejoins the marketing team as Training and Communications Manager following a period of maternity leave in 2011/12. Clare has previously worked as the Marketing Manager, prior to which she spent several years with the UK Sales Team. In this new role, Clare will be providing training support to the UK and Export Sales teams.

Clare enjoys snowboarding and on her last trip picked up a black eye, broken wrist and engagement ring.
